  • Differentiate between emotions and feelings and illustrate how they can be expressed through food and activity behaviors.

We have become a society wrought with weight stigma. This stigma causes negative influences on dieting, activity, body image, self-esteem, and discrimination. Sadly, increased body dissatisfaction is a leading risk factor for the development of disordered eating and chronic dieting. This presentation helps people, especially teens and young adults, understand the influences of weight stigma and how to navigate away from chronic dieting and disorder.


After this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Repeat the bodyweight equation and explain how each part contributes to physical composition. 

  • Define weight stigma and successfully illustrate ways it is applied in society. 

  • Relate thin privilege to internal weight stigma and recognize when it may be being practiced.
